Autumn by the Lake
Our NTUMC classmate DJL, a retired professor from a renowned
medical school, is multi-talented. His interests include literature,
both Chinese and English. Recently he wrote a poem, in both English
and Chinese. Wei, another classmate, said it was beautiful, and I
found it to be sentimental. With his permission, I have the honor to
share it in my file.
Autumn by the Lake 湖畔的秋天 (by DJL)
“ I walked with my dog on a path by the lake
On a clear Autumn day; I did it for his sake.
藍天在湖面上漂搖.
彩雲在光波裡微笑.
He ran on the grass in a breeze blowing his hair,
And let out a crisp bark that pierced the air.
路邊的菁草透露出芬芳.
徑旁的楓葉灑出了光芒.
He chased a squirrel that climb up on a tree,
And tried to play with ducks that had to flee.
初秋陽光照著我帶來了溫暖.
在夕暘西下裡我離開了湖畔.
I enjoy my life that is now at its best,
And pray for the Lord to bless me for the rest. ”
