Old Times Brought To Mind
Yesterday, the third day of the new year, another beautiful sunny day, we came to a shopping mall in our neighboring town, where we have rarely visited for many years since all our children left the house.
The Christmas shopping frenzy may be gone, but the holiday spirit remains. While walking along the main hallway in the mall, we came across this “merry-go-round” in the corridor. The scene instantly reminded me of the good old days, when we used to bring our children here for shopping, especially before Christmas. At this very moment, I seemed to sustain an illusion that I saw our children being amused riding on the merry-go-round, or concentrated trying to find what they need and like in the stores.
Before the New Year, as many people often do, I did some rearrangement and reorganizing of my personal stuff. While doing that, I happened to see an old "Happy Birthday Card", which I received from one of my daughters when I turned half a century old, almost a quarter of a century ago. It says:
" Dear Dad, Thank you for being a wonderful dad. I hope you have a Happy Birthday !!!
50 yrs. old !! Wow !! Love, Jocelyn "
The old times and good memories are again brought back to my mind during this holiday season.

Wow, I can't believe you found this card. How old was I when I wrote that? Fifteen?
