Once More to the Woods

A morning walk in Muir Woods

On the trip, "An Entrance to the Woods" , Wendell Berry, a contemporary essayist,  realized while settling into the woods, his pace must slow down and he paid attention to the surroundings.

As he was able to fully stop and looked around, he was able to think clearly.

Early this morning, shortly after having passed the Golden Gate Bridge on the way home, we once more drove to the beautiful and expansive Muir Woods National Monument, 16 miles north of San Francisco, where we again enjoyed a pleasant and relaxing walk among the towering old-growth redwood trees.

Our pace slowed down, and we often stopped, looked around so that we were able to think clearly.

It has been said that heaven is a place on earth.

If this is true, then it is Muir Woods.
