dulce de leche

It was a lovely Saturday morning in the Valley, sunny with blue skies and a temperature in the mid 40s.

After taking our routine walk and stroll around the neighborhood for an hour, we went to the stores in town for our grocery shopping. 

While my spouse was inside the Safeway Grocery Store, as usual, with a cup of  “Starbucks” coffee in my hand I found an open seat and table outside the store.

I again did my “sit and think” while watching the people walk in and out of the store.

In the front of the entrance door, there were two little girls selling Girl Scout Cookies under the supervision of two adults. The girls were together happily singing their favorite songs.

The scene instantly brought back my old memory of our daughter doing exactly the same thing right there thirty years ago. How time passes! The only difference is that our daughter was wearing the Girl Scout Brownie Uniform while selling the cookies then.

Among the many varieties, I purchased a couple boxes of “dulce de leche” that was recommended by the girls.  I opened one of them and started enjoying the cookies with my coffee. It was a unique and sweet experience.

We have bought Girl Scout Cookies on many occasions, “dulce de leche”, literally translated, it means "candy of milk" or "candy (made) of milk", seems to be a new option.

It says:
