大都會的農夫

MSF is a good friend of my wife’s. They attended the same college in Taipei together in the late 1960s. She and her husband live in Taipei City, but often stay in their second home in the suburban 士林陽明山麓. We call them "大都會的農夫".  Every so often, they would send us by e-mail pictures of 豐收的蔬果.

A couple of weeks ago when we were in Taipei, we were warmly invited to visit their home and garden farm on the hill.

"眼前有佳景,  詩意在心中"

While climbing the steep stone steps to reach their home up on the hill, I remembered:

 "遠上寒山石徑斜, 白雲生處有人家. "  ~ 山行 ~  by the ancient poet 杜牧.

Once we got there and strolled around, some of the《歸園田居》詩句s by 陶潛 came to the picture.

性本愛丘山  羈鳥戀舊林

"延陵"  昭和六年孟春日  田郎書

 

開荒南野際  守拙歸園田

桃李羅堂前

虛室有餘閑

榆柳蔭後簷

復得返自然
