As a self-proclaimed "nature lover", a walk to the park with our granddaughter is an opportunity to encourage her to share her love of flowers, leaves, birds and butterflies.
We drive to the neighboring town, where my younger daughter's family lives, one or two days a week. We offer to babysit for our lovely two and a half year old granddaughter. This has been and continues to be a very fulfilling endeavor.
Besides watching the "Dora, the explorer" video with grandma, playing with her LEGOs, throwing ball with grandpa....., her most favorite activity, however, is what she says “Go to park! swing, slide.”
She loves to play in the neighborhood park playground, where she swings, slides and climbs.
Along the trail to the park, she picks the flowers, leaves and carefully placed them in her carry on purse.
Walking the trail with my spouse and our granddaughter in this pleasant early spring season is one of the life’s enjoyable moments.
At this very moment, I feel “春風吹面薄於紗" ; I share the ancient Chinese poetic sentiment, “我見青山多嫵媚" , and the experience of "處處聞啼鳥".
These are the moments I treasure.

As I become older, some of the simplest things in life that were boring to me have become the most enjoyable. My perspectives, attitude, and hobbies have taken a different direction. The green rolling hills, people, dogs, and evertying are so beautiful and peaceful in the picture

ReplyDeleteThe irony is the younger family members and friends follow your path when you were young! They see the natural beauty and delight on your accomplishments and tend to naturally adapt them to their lives.
I myself learn to enjoy planting greens and flowering plants. Daily watching every branch grow as you care for them gives me so much joy!
