Spring Forward, Fall Back

Spring Forward, Fall Back

It is that time of the year again!

Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2012
in the United States.

Daylight Saving Time (DST), often referred to as "Summer Time",
(夏令時間). is a way of making better use of the daylight, as "there
is more light in the evenings and we can do more for the entire day."

DST is supposed to reduce energy use as well, according to some
sources.

In ancient times, people

“日出而作, 日入而息;  鑿井而飲, 耕田而食.”
(擊壤歌  帝堯時代).

"種豆南山下, 草盛豆苗稀. 晨興理荒穢, 帶月荷鋤歸."
(歸園田居  晉 陶淵明, 365-427)

"We rise with the lark and go to bed with the lamb. "
(Nicholas Breton, English poet and novelist, 1545–1626).

Daylight Saving Time (DST) 於我何有哉!

For people who are retired, neither DST (Summer Time) nor
Standard Time really affect them. They simply 想睡就睡, 睡到
自然醒. Only 醒來何處去 matters.

  1. I myself do not like DST. I like to follow the natural way of determining time through the way the sun rises early, the rooster crowing, listening to the school children few walks from our house etc.
At night, viewing the beautiful, wondrous sun sets on its pace and the moon slowly takes over to lit the surrounding. Natural way to see simplicity!
