越教越瘦

Dr. Kuo-Nan Liou (廖國男), a Distinguished Professor at UCLA,

is an internationally known expert in the field of Atmospheric

Science, in which he has published extensively.

He has received numerous awards, and is a Member (院士) of the

National Academy of Engineering (美國工程學院) and Academia

Sinica (中央研究院). He was recognized by the Intergovernmental

Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for his substantial contributions

to the 2007 report that led to the IPCC being awarded the 2007

Nobel Prize with former Vice President Al Gore.

廖國男 also has a soft side. He was one of my classmates in the high

school (建中) half a century ago. He used to be a 橄欖球隊員 while

at 建中 and 台大.

He remains humble despite being a very successful professional.

甭提博士學位.

他說美籍華人學者,

不東不西,

不是東西.

在台灣或中國,

他們是假洋鬼子, 不東;

在美國,

他們是美籍華人, 不西.

他說百尺桿頭
