我見青山多嫵媚

In the 16th century, while passing Taiwan and after seeing the

luxuriant green forests on the island, 連綿的青山百里長, the

Portuguese sailors exclaimed, “Ilha Formosa!”, which means

beautiful island.

During our recent trip to the homeland, we had the opportunity to

enjoy viewing many magnificent mountain sceneries on the road

tours. I found them not only 雄偉, but also 嫵媚. We saw the softer

side of the mountains on the island.

After driving through the "Snow Mountain" tunnel (雪山隧道), the

longest tunnel in Taiwan, the splendid 雪山山脈 instantly stood

behind us. In 南投, we witnessed the majestic grand Central

Mountain Range, known as 中央山脈. On the way to 瑪家鄉 down

in the southland, we came within the sight of this mystic 大武山,

"Kavulungan, (大姆指 per 排灣語), which was said to have the

meaning of 俊美、豐富 and 神秘.

我見青山多嫵媚，料青山見我應如是。情與貌，略相似。
