日月潭

For years I have been saying to my wife that we should take another

trip to 日月潭 the next time we are in Taiwan.

During my childhood, I often saw the picture of 日月潭 on the wall

hanging calendar. 日月潭, to me then, was a remote and sacred place

that only the rich people, or "偉人", could go and enjoy.

It would never occur to me until 1971, when I got married and we

were supposed to take a brief “蜜月旅行“ on the way back to Taipei

from my wife’s hometown. After 阿里山, and before 太魯閣, we

stopped at 日月潭 . It was however only 蜻蜓點水, “到此一遊 “.

The other day, during our stay in Taiwan, we made another tour to

日月潭 . It was a cloudy, misty day with light rain.

Its unique scenery gives the impression of a Chinese landscape

painting"水墨山水畫" with mist-laden water and murky layered

mountains. It was truly breathtaking. We took a leisurely stroll along

its shores to enjoy the tranquility and peace of nature, and appreciate

the glories of waters and mountains.

It was an extremely pleasant revisit, 40 years later.
