楓情知多少

母院楓情知多少，
同學陳定信，知道的最多。

兩千一零年，

我在自己的 blog 寫了一篇楓情文，

"The Unnoticed 楓情萬種"。

在台大醫學院校園裏，

那段時光，

大部分的同學，包括我，

似乎都忽視，

院裏的一片楓香。

陳定信看到了我這篇文，

除了指正我説的，

楓香樹學名 "Liquidambar Formosana" 

有點瑕疪，

"F" 應是小寫 "f"。

我又再次佩服他的細心，

與拉丁文造詣。

來信中，

更給我很多，

關於母院楓香樹的來龍去脈。

他説，

The maple trees on our NTUMC campus are 楓香樹 (Liquidambar formosana), native trees to Taiwan. They were planted by Ex-Dean 杜聰明. Many of them, however, were moved to 台北木柵動物園 about 20 years ago, when NTUMC campus was under a major new construction.

也注意到，

楓香樹 turned red or brown in the fall. Many of the classmates just did not pay attention to them. "楓城" became the nickname for NTUMC campus after we graduated from there in 1968. There are no Japanese Maples (Acer Palmatum or Acer Serrulatum) on NTUMC campus though.
