Is a piano considered furniture or a musical instrument or both?
For us, it used to be a musical instrument, a beautiful and delicate musical instrument, and now it is a piece of furniture, yet the most unique and elegant furniture in our house.
This lonely piano in our house also represents memory and history.
This piano, by "Steinway & Sons", has lived with us in our home for almost four decades.
When our children were home, I used to hear their piano lessons and practices every evening. Three of them took turn to do it. It could be quite a few hours of auditory "entertainment" for me.
Although I don’t play piano, I memorized most of the piano music pieces they had played. I could even tell when they missed or played the wrong keys. My spouse, who also played piano once in a great while, was impressed with my musically "gifted" ears.
Now, when I am sitting in my living room reading, the piano, just a few feet away from me, stays quietly on the corner of the room keeping me company.
Every so often, particularly on a serene night, while I was sitting in my comfortable sofa chair meditating, I seemed to hear "Clair de Lune " playing by my daughter.

Same feeling we have at our household. Piano gave us good memories of our children playing when they were young. Now it is like a fixture in a corner of our living room that we refused to give up those happy moments./LT
