Fourth of July

It is Independence Day, or commonly known as the "Fourth of July".

Today, all across the United States, people are wishing each other a happy Fourth of July.

Small towns, like the one in our valley, are great places to find old-fashioned fun, food and fireworks on the Fourth of July.

This evening, we came to downtown in the valley to join the crowd and watch the small town fireworks displays.

We parked our car behind the First Presbyterian Church, a historic church built in 1874 in the Neo-Gothic style.

New- fashioned fun

Walked to "Riverfront"

Found a nice spot to sit

It is getting dark,

and darker.

Finally,

That is all you can get, yet a big deal in a small town

While we were strolling in the crowd, we came across a few Mandarin speaking visitors. It reminded me of "唐人自何處來", a chapter in the【雅舍小品】written by 梁實秋. He mentioned in his writing that he was once asked "唐人自何處來" by a "老者", a former Chinese railroad worker, when he stopped at Cheyenne, Wyoming, on his way to Denver/Colorado Springs, Colorado by train. (see comment below)

  1. "唐人自何處來", a chapter in the【雅舍小品】written by 梁實秋
