An Enchanting City

Budapest, the Hungary’s capital, literally speaks the tale of two cities,
straddling a gentle curve in the Danube with the Buda Hills to the west
and Pest Plain to the east.

This charming city has been recognized as “The Pearl of the Danube”.

The name of the city came to my attention when I was in middle school
almost half a century ago. Budapest was the home front in the cold war.
The news and images of the Hungarian uprising of 1956 appeared in the
newspapers everywhere. There was despairing cry out for outside help
then.

Last month, we had the opportunity to visit this city during our Central
and Eastern Europe trip. We enjoyed the natural beauty of the city. We
were amazed at its rich historic attractions, and museums filled with
treasures.



Dinner cruise at night on the Danube was one of the most indescribably
beautiful experiences. Walking along the Danube bank with my wife at
the crack of dawn was another sweet memory.
